Slow progress...

I have been working like a dog to get stuff done and make a little extra to head out on a road trip.
So, the garage is all closed up and we head out tomorrow to the lake in Maine. After a few days there, we are taking the kids to NYC. On to Philadelphia where I will show the kids the house I lived in when I was born. Then Annapolis and DC, where we will hit up the air and space museum. That's the only thing my son really cars about seeing...
After DC, we'll head back east and down the eastern shore to Virginia. A day in Savannah, and then home.
Relatives from Austria are joining us in NYC, DC, and also once we are home.
Maybe I'll post something from the road, but it won't be about my little beast in the garage.
Everybody have a great couple weeks!!

Off track a bit

So I went in a different direction today. A friend is having transmission troubles with his car and in an effort to help, I torn down one of my spare transmissions. It's another first for me and was a great learning experience. I learned that I need some better snap ring pliers, for one. I have been wanting to get a look inside one of these transmissions for a long time but have not had a good enough reason since the trans in the 77 has been fairly good all these 20 years.

Finally got a break in the weather

Managed to get a little done yesterday and this evening.
Finished the passengers side body work and worked on the roll bar again. I had to shorten it 3" and then widen it about the same.

Change of pace.

Waiting on more etching primer so I didn't feel like doing body work. I dug out the roll bar and went about cutting it down to fit under the top. Remember, I got the car with no convertible top and a roll bar that is regulation for auto crossing but that does not fit under a top.
If for no other reason, I want the bar for a gopro! I asked Santa already.... We'll see...
Oh, and I'll hook the seat belts to it too, but seriously? What's more important?

Can't leave my first beastie out under the car cover any longer!

So I found new homes for the stupid lawn mower and all the bikes in order to make room to get, and keep both cars in the garage. Don't have a clue why I didn't do it before but it is what it is. They will live together now and be happy about it!!

Vote for your favorite!

This evening I was messing around with my marker lights again and set one in from the back without the chrome trim. Which do you like better?

Parade rained out, nothing to do but weld

Happy 4th all!
Wrapping up the welding on the passengers side. Still have lots of fine tuning to do but it's close.

A little blending

Making good progress on the passengers side. Finally got the door gaps where I can live with them. Welded up some more seems and did a little blending. The rain hasn't stopped but I need my therapy, rain or shine!

Is it ever going to stop raining?

I have not seen a summer this wet in 20 years...
Did you miss me?
I've been buried with work and every evening I head out to the garage, it starts raining again!
I've made some progress on my passengers door and today I stripped the rest of the multiple layers of paint off the rest of the passengers side.
I'm considering this as my first performance mod! Taking off the 10-12 layers of old paint has dropped at least 4% of the body fat...
